DESCRIPTION:The North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAA
 DSN) Emerging Leaders Node (ELN) is pleased to present the Emerging Ideas 
 Series for April 2024\, discussing Nuclear Disarmament and Human Security.
 \nThe Emerging Ideas Series pairs emerging scholars with established exper
 ts and practitioners in their field of study. This month’s feature is NA
 ADSN Research Fellow Julie Clark.\nJulie Clark is a Ph.D. Candidate in Glo
 bal Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs through Wi
 lfrid Laurier University (WLU). Her research focuses on the governance of 
 nuclear weapons and avenues for arms control and disarmament policies.\nMs
 . Peggy Mason career highlights diplomatic and specialist expertise in the
  field of international peace and security\, with a particular emphasis on
  the United Nations\, where she served as Canada’s Ambassador for Disarm
 ament from 1989 to 1995. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the pre
 stigious Canadian Pugwash Group and serves on the Advisory Board of the In
 stitute for Peace and Diplomacy.\nMr. Ernie Regehr is Senior Fellow in Def
 ence Policy and Arctic Security at The Simons Foundation of Vancouver\, an
 d Research Fellow at the Centre for Peace Advancement\, Conrad Grebel Univ
 ersity College\, the University of Waterloo. He is co-founder of Project P
 loughshares. His publications on peace and security issues include books\,
  monographs\, journal articles\, policy papers\, briefs to Parliament\, an
 d op-eds. Mr. Regehr serves as a NAADSN Fellow.\nDr. Jessica West (Moderat
 or) is a Senior Researcher at the Canadian peace research institute Projec
 t Ploughshares and Managing Editor of the international Space Security Ind
 ex project. She is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Peace Advancem
 ent. Her research and policy work is focused on technology\, security\, an
 d governance. Dr. West also serves as a NAADSN Fellow.\nPlease join us for
  an hour-long discussion on Wednesday\, 24 April at 12PM ET via Zoom. Part
 icipants will be able to ask questions during our moderated Question and A
 nswer session.
