 nflict in Outer Space: Legal and Geopolitical implications”
DESCRIPTION:From anti-satellite weapons tests to enhanced space-based defen
 se capabilities\, the proliferation of outer space military activities con
 tinues unabated. This proliferation threatens international peace and secu
 rity and jeopardizes our ability to sustainably explore and use outer spac
 e. It also necessitates a rigorous and academic ‘deep dive’ into the r
 ules governing military space activities. What is allowed? What is prohibi
 ted? And what are the inevitable ‘grey zones’? This webinar will first
  discuss the prospects for expanding and clarifying the existing internati
 onal law that controls outer space militarization and weaponization. The d
 iscussion will then shift to look at the geopolitical impact that outer sp
 ace militarization and weaponization is having here on Earth.
